AMP Higher Education Scholarship Fund 2017 

Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) invites applications for its Higher Scholarship Fund for the Year 2017.

With the noble intention of helping our needy Muslim brethren, AMP has initiated a ‘Scholarship Fund’. The purpose of this fund is to provide monetary support to genuinely needy Muslims for Higher & Technical Education.

AMP firmly believes that Education has the power to salvage the community from the throes of ignorance and widespread adversity and usher in a new era of prosperity.  As such it feels that there needs to be focus on Higher Education so that talented and able individuals from the community can gain the right skills and qualifications required to grab contemporary opportunities and walk at pace with the fast-evolving world. The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund offers Scholarships for duration of up to 2 years.

Scholarship For : Science Research
The Fellowship Scheme for women Scientists for societal programs (WOS-B) is initiative of the department of science & technology. This scheme is meant for all those women having a burning desire to utilize their scientific acumen through active research and development projects which are aimed at meeting societal needs and aspirations.
OBJECTIVES:
1.Provide an opportunity for women scientists to re-enter into active research after a hi3 break through support for S&T based R&D projects addressing the needs of people in unorganized urban or rural areas; and
2.Provide opportunity for S&T capacity building of women on issues relevant in societal programs.
NATURE OF SUPPORT PROVIDED:
1.Support will include a scholarship grant of Rs. 15,000 per month for candidates with Ph.D., MS / MD and Rs. 10,000 per month for candidates having post graduate degree for a period of two years.
2.Grant for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, travel and overheads will also be considered if found necessary under the work plan.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Indian nationals living in India and who are currently not employed in permanent position and who possess one of the following qualifications;
1.Ph.D degree in science, master’s degree in engineering or technology, architecture, medicine or pharmacy
2.Who have break in hi3 for at least three years or more after having master’s degree in science or bachelor’s degree in engineering or medicine, architecture, or pharmacy
AGE:
The applicant should be below the age of 50 years as on 15th February.
DURATION:
The scholarship will be given for duration of two years. The period may be extended to the third year in exceptional cases, if recommended by experts during periodic reviews.

RAMANUJAN FELLOWSHIPS
Scholarship For : Science Research, Engg. Research, Engg. Post Graduate
Nominations are invited for the ‘Ramanujan Fellowships’ recently instituted by the Government of India. The fellowship is meant for brilliant scientists and engineers from all over the world to take up scientific research positions in India, especially those scientists who want to return to India from abroad. The fellowships are scientist-specific and very selective. The Ramanujan Fellows could work in any of the scientific institutions and universities in the country and they would be eligible for receiving regular research grants through the extramural funding schemes of various S & T agencies of the Government of India.
All areas of science (in the broadest terms) will be covered by this fellowship.
ELIGIBILITY
The fellowship is open to brilliant scientists and engineers from all over the world who are below the age of 60 years.
(i). The applicant should possess a higher degree or equivalent, such as Ph.D. in Science/Engineering, Masters in Engineering or Technology/MD in Medicine, etc. and have adequate professional experience.

(iii). These Fellowships are very selective and only those who have a proven/outstanding track-record as evident from their research publications and recognitions would be eligible.

DURATION:
The duration of the fellowship will be initially for five years.
NATURE OF SUPPORT:
• The value of the fellowship will be Rs. 50,000 per month for the first 3 years of the fellowship and will be increased to Rs. 60,000 per month during the last two years.
• Each Fellow will, in addition, receive a contingency of Rs. 5.00 lakh per annum for conferences and other expenses.
• The Ramanujan Fellows will be eligible for receiving regular research grants through the extramural funding schemes of various S&T agencies of the Government of India.

SCHEMES OF ‘LIC GOLDEN JUBILEE SCHOLARSHIP’ FOR STUDENTS BELONGING TO THE ECONOMICALLY WEAKER FAMILIES FOR PURSUING HIGHER STUDIES
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the schemes is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of society so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability
SCOPE
The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India in a government or private college/university. It will also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes at Graduation level
ELIGIBILITY
Students who have passed Class XII exam or its equivalent in Year 2008 and are interested to pursue higher education in the field of
a) Engineering
b) Medicine
c) Arts/Science/Commerce
d) Diploma Courses in any field and
e) Any Vocational course which leads to immediate employment and where minimum education qualification stipulated is plus 2
DURATION
Scholarship shall be provided for the entire course.
RATE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Rs. 10,000/- per annum, Rs. 1000/- payable monthly for ten months directly into the bank account of the Beneficiary.
CONDITIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP
(i)Scholarship shall be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 60% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 60,000/- per annum. Students having the lowest family income shall be given preference in the ascending order.
(ii)The scholarship shall be discontinued if a student fails to secure 50% in B.A./B.COM and 55% marks in other streams or equivalent grade, in the previous final examination of the course for which scholarship is awarded. Scholarship shall not be awarded for than the normal period of time taken to obtain certificate/degree.
(iii)Scholarship shall not be given to more than one student in a family
(iv)The students should be regular in attendance for which the yardstick shall be decided by the competent authority of the school/college/university.
(v)Income certificate should be on self-certification basis by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents and from employer for employed parents supported by documents such as land held by revenue department in the name of parents.
(vi)If a student violates any other term and condition of the scholarship, the scholarship may be suspended or cancelled.
(vii)If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements/certificates, his/her scholarship shall be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarshippaid shall be recovered, at the discretion of the concerned Divisional Administration of LIC.
(viii)LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation will lay down the detailed procedure for processing and sanctioning of scholarships to eligible students.
(ix)Scholarship shall be credited to the student’s bank account maintained at the place of study. Efforts shall be made for transferring it electronically through the banks.
(x)The scheme shall be evaluated at regular intervals by the LICGJF.
(xi)The regulations can be changed at any time at the discretion of the Board of Trustees of LICGJF

1. POST GRADUATE INDIRA GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR SINGLE GIRL CHILD
UGC has introduced a Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for single girl child with an aim to compensate direct costs of girl education to all levels specially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their families.
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the proposed scheme are:
a) To support post graduate education of single girl child in non-professional courses.
b) To recognize the value of observance of small family norm.
TARGET GROUP AND ELIGIBILITY:
Target group: The girl students who are admitted to various non-professional PG courses in Universities/Colleges and happen to be the only girl child in the family.
ELIGIBILITY:
Any single girl child of her parents only. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme. The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college. Thisscholarship is available to the student for first PG Degree only.
AGE:
Girl student up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
NATURE OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE UNDER THE SCHEME:
The number of slots for scholarships available under the schemes are 1200 per year.
No tuition fees will be charged from girl students to pursue PG degree course in Universities/Colleges/Institutions covered under Sections 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act.
The value of Scholarship is Rs. 2,000/- p.m. for a period of two years only i.e. duration of a PG course.
No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.

GUIDELINES FOR POST GRADUATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR UNIVERSITY RANK HOLDERS IN GENERAL & HONOURS COURSES AT UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL.
The UGC, therefore, introduced a Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship Scheme for University rank holders both in General and Honours Courses at Undergraduate level.
The scholarship may be tenable for a period of two years to enable the rank holders of each university at undergraduate level to pursue their Master’s Degree. All the universities/degree awarding institutions would be required to issue rank certificates to the toppers of the university both in General and Honours Courses namely B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com The purpose of this scheme is to attract talent for pursuing post-graduate studies besides strengthening the basic subjects, General as well as Honours, at Undergraduate level. The awardees under this scheme can pursue their Postgraduate programme in any area on specialization in any institution of higher learning in the country.
OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME:
The objectives of the scheme are:
a) To promote and nurture talent.
b) To reward meritorious students with outstanding performance at the undergraduate level for pursuing postgraduate studies.
c) To promote study in basic subjects both General as well as Honours at undergraduate level.
d) To build up academic excellence at postgraduate level across the colleges and universities in the country.
ELIGIBILITY / TARGET GROUP:
While in General Courses the First and Second Rank holders admitted in any Postgraduate Programme would be awarded the scholarship, in Honours Courses the scholarshipwould be awarded only to the First Rank holders. These awardees will have to submit the proofs of their merit position at undergraduate level as well of their admission in postgraduate programmes. The scholarship would, however, be subjected to securing a minimum of sixty per cent marks at undergraduate level. The scheme is applicable to such students who have taken admission in regular, full-time Master’s Degree Course in any recognized university or a Post-Graduate college. This scholarship is available to the student for first PG Degree only.
AGE LIMIT: Students is 30 years at the time of admission in PG course.

LONG TERM OBJECTIVES :

24.Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-A)

Purpose- To provide opportunities to women scientists and technologists for pursuing research in basic or applied sciences in frontier areas of science and engineering. A special provision has been made under this Scheme to encourage those women scientists who have had breaks in their careers. It will provide a launch pad for them up to the age of 50 years to return to mainstream science and work as bench-level scientists in the field of science and technology.
Award- This scheme will provide a research grant with an upper limit of Rs. 23 lakh (for Ph.D. or equivalent) and Rs. 20 lakh (for M.Sc. or equivalent) for a well-defined R&D project proposal for a period of three years
